JUVENILE ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM
This is a program of education/intervention for the young person
who has been identified as an alcohol or drug user. Participants
range in age from 12 to 21 years.
The central goal of the JUVENILE ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG AWARENESS
PROGRAM is to identify and change harmful behaviors before they
lead to more serious problems. This program can help participants
make informed decisions, but ultimately, they alone possess the
power to choose.
WHY SHOULD A YOUNG PERSON ATTEND THIS PROGRAM?
1. To receive the most up-to-date information about substance
use and abuse and its negative effects.
2. To receive the opportunity to explore your value systems in
relation to alcohol and other drugs and to encourage positive change.
3. To receive the opportunity to share experiences, develop new
coping and decision-making skills and improve self-image.
4. To encourage continued growth in your life and receive
referrals for further help if you have a more serious problem.
A screening tool is utilized to identify those with more serious
problems. To ensure that participants receive the maximum benefit
from the program, participant's needs are evaluated and recommendations
to assist with further change are given.
